How to make fruit custard - best fruit custard recipe with fresh fruits in custard cream
I have no hesitation to brand this as my family’s favourite dessert choice. Any time of the year, any seasonal fruits tossed in this creamy custard cream is always a winner!
I believe that this is the best way to sneak lots of varieties of fruits into kids’ diet without much cajoling. If you are serving kids under 5 years, make sure to cut the fruits into small pieces to avoid any choking hazards.
As for the custard, the vanilla flavour is best for this recipe as it doesn’t rob the natural sweetness and the fruity aroma of the assortment of fruits you add to it. Also, feel free to toss some colourful tutti fruiti, cashews, raisins etc to give it a more cheerful appearance and taste.
What you need:
2 tbsp Vanilla flavour custard powder
2 bsp Condensed milk
1tbsp Sugar
1/2 litre or two cups of Milk
Fruits : Go for bananas, oranges, apples, mangoes, kiwis, red/green grapes, cherries, blueberries, papaya, pineapples, strawberries etc
Let’s make it:
Make the custard
- Follow the instructions in the back of the packet and make the custard cream. Add condensed milk and sugar to sweeten
- Leave it to cool
- Cover with a cling film and place in the fridge
My tip: Always remember to add a small amount of custard powder to milk. 2 tbsp of custard cream to 1/2 lt of milk will be quite alright. If it is lumpy or thick add more milk and adjust the consistency
Slice the fruits
- 1/2 hr before serving, sllice fruits and collect them in a bowl
Serve
- Add the fruits to the custard cream and give a good mix
- Serve immeditely!
- Yummy!
